My Amazing Summer Challenge & Webinar
Independence And Play
Ed Tech
**Registration required on the Link Provided**
Inspired by The Amazing Generation, we want students across the country to have a fun and adventurous summer offline.
When kids are empowered to choose real life over screens, their mental health benefits.
Students will read The Amazing Generation—the new book from #1 New York Times bestselling authors Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price—on their own over the summer, try something inspired by it, and share a short reflection in the fall. Every student who participates will get a certificate of recognition.
This webinar will bring together special guest, Alexa Arnold, Executive Director of The Anxious Generation, to discuss the book, the movement, and how students can join in, and Dr. Juliana Chen, Chief Medical Officer at Cartwheel, to share how schools and families can support student wellbeing heading into summer.
The conversation will cover:
What students are navigating online—and how it connects to youth mental health
What the book explores—and how students and families are responding to it
How the Summer Challenge works—and how your district can participate

Bringing Balance to School
Phone Free Schools
Independence And Play
Ed Tech
Join us for a learning night on how to engage with schools and districts on bringing balance to technology in schools. We will review ways to successfully engage with school stakeholders that helps to plan with the goals of prioritizing student mental health, cognitive development, and finding balance with technology in schools. Our focus will be grounded in research on cognitive load, digital distraction, and child & adolescent well-being and supporting balance project communities who seek to move toward a more intentional, “less‑is‑more” approach to technology in schools. We will look at ways to practically reduce non-essential digital tools and ensuring that technology is used only where it clearly enhances learning or accessibility. We hope to build a through thread that balance with in person interactions and purposeful tech is also achievable in school.

Welcome to our recurring office hours for OR Unplugged!
We meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month from noon to 1 PM PST. If that time doesn't work for you - don't worry! Send us an email at ORunplugged@proton.me and we can meet with you at a time that works for you.
Bring your questions, concerns, passion projects, and spots where you might need a hand! We also wouldn't say no if you brought a friend :)
