Screen-Free Summer Meet-Up Series - Dutch Gap Conservation Area
About these meet-ups
These are relaxed, screen-free meet-ups — a chance for the kids to run, climb, splash and explore outside while we connect as parents. There's no agenda and no RSVP needed beyond fournorms.com: pop in late, leave early, or stay the whole time, whatever your day allows. Every location is free. Bring water, sunscreen and a snack, dress for the weather, and new faces are always welcome — bring a friend!
Join us for a fun-filled morning exploring nature and history! We’ll walk part of the Dutch Gap Trail, a scenic 4.8-mile gravel and dirt loop circling a tidal lagoon — great for spotting blue herons, bald eagles, and deer along the way. We’ll go at a relaxed, kid-friendly pace and won’t need to cover the whole loop.
Afterward, those who’d like can head next door to Henricus Historical Park to explore colonial life with costumed interpreters and historical buildings (optional).
📍 Meet at: Dutch Gap Conservation Area trailhead, 411 Coxendale Road, Chester, VA 23836 (parking near 341 Henricus Park Road)
🕐 Meet time: 9:30 AM
What to bring: Comfortable shoes, water bottle, sunscreen, hat. Feel free to pack a picnic lunch if you’d like to stick around and eat afterward.
