- Pause AI with students, in every grade. Until the steps below are complete, AI assistants, chatbots and generative AI features should be turned off by default and blocked on school devices and networks, including AI built into tools students already use.
- Adopt a clear, transparent AI policy that approves any tool only for a specific purpose, requires training for staff and students, is reviewed and reauthorized every year, and includes family input.
- Set independent standards, based on independent research. Before any AI tool reaches students, it should meet standards for safety, effectiveness, equity, and privacy and security, judged by independent research rather than studies paid for by the companies that sell them.
- Give parents a seat at the table. Create a standing Tech Advisory Committee with parent and teacher representatives to review current and proposed AI tools.
- Be transparent. Publish a current, public list of any AI tools the district approves, for which grades, for what purpose, and how each one handles student data.
- Keep AI out of feedback and grading. Students' work should be reviewed by people, not AI.
- Respect family choice. If a tool is approved, families should be informed and able to opt out at any time, without penalty.
- Teach about AI, the right way. Offer age-appropriate media and AI literacy that builds on strong reading, writing and thinking skills, so students understand AI before they're asked to use it.

Common Questions
Everything you need to know about running a successful campaign.
Can I modify the template language?
Absolutely! While our templates provide proven messaging frameworks, you can customize details, add local context, and adjust tone to match your community's needs.
What if I'm not experienced with organizing?
That's exactly why we built this! Our templates include step-by-step guidance, proven language, and everything you need. Most successful organizers using Four Norms had zero experience when they started.
How do digital signatures work?
Parents sign using their name and email on any device. Signatures are legally valid for petitions and generate professional PDFs with signature pages for presentations.
How much time does this take?
Initial setup takes about 5 minutes. After that, most organizers spend 2-3 hours per week managing their campaign. Our automation handles the heavy lifting—you focus on building relationships.
What if no one signs?
Our templates have been tested in 50+ communities with consistently strong results. Plus, you get access to our community of organizers who share what's working. We also provide coaching calls to help troubleshoot.
Is this really free?
Yes! Starting a campaign is completely free. You can collect unlimited signatures and use all our basic tools. We offer premium features for power users, but most successful campaigns use only the free tier.
