Our Mission

Hi! Thanks for joining our group! Our goal is to help communities and families find and maintain a balance of real-world experiences and technology. The data is clear: the more time spent glued to a screen with little real world independence, the worse our kids are feeling about themselves. So let’s band together and bring back flip phones and landlines so kids have to pick up a phone to call each other if they want to get together. Or better yet, let’s get them a set of walkie talkies to talk to the neighbor kids. Or better still, let’s have them open the front door and walk over to the neighbor’s house and knock to see if they are home! Let’s let them play a bit unsupervised and develop a sense of independence and interdependence. As they get older, let’s give them $10 and say “come home before dusk!” The goal of this community is to bring together like-minded parents who want to talk about these things and find the right happy medium for your family. Maybe you’re like me, and you may have watched one to many episodes of “SVU” and always fear the worse, but also understand (intellectually at least) that the real threats these days are online, and that social media is really hurting our kids’ sense of self esteem etc. Or maybe you’re all in on social media, video games, etc and just want to also encourage your kid to play outside. Whatever your stance, you’re here because you want to engage with this topic. Can’t wait to talk to you about it!
