We’re partnering with Dr. Carrie Mackensen to answer your questions about parenting in the digital age, and how screen time and ed tech are impacting our kids. Join us! About Dr. Carrie Mackensen: Dr. Carrie (@successful_parent) holds a PhD in Individual, Family, and Child Psychology and has over 25 years of experience studying child development and relationships. She believes that by understanding the science behind digital media and child development, parents can create a family environment where kids feel secure, regulated, and deeply connected. Her forthcoming book, "Digitally Dysregulated: How Screens Hijack Kids' Brains and What Parents Can Do About It," will be published in September 2026. About Schools Beyond Screens PVPUSD: We are a group of parents and community members advocating for evidence-based tech policies in PV schools.

Petition for Intentional Technology Use in PVPUSD Schools

The largest school districts in the country, led by the recent resolution passed by LA Unified School District, are taking meaningful steps to address classroom screen use: Setting hard grade-level limits, blocking YouTube and gaming platforms on school devices, eliminating devices for the youngest students, and requiring weekly screen reports to parents. This is happening because parents organized, showed up, and made it impossible to ignore. The PVPUSD school board has the same authority right now. They do not need to wait for state guidance or federal standards. Dozens of districts have already acted. What they need to hear is that our community is paying attention and expects them to lead.
