We are Greater Lafayette parents coming together to support one another in delaying smartphones and social media for our children. Our goal is to make waiting easier by creating a community where families don't have to feel like their child is the only one without a smartphone. This is a voluntary, non-judgmental, parent-led effort to give our kids more time for real-life connection, independence, play, and childhood.

Greater Lafayette Parents: Wait on the Smartphone

Our kids are growing up in a world where smartphones have become a normal part of childhood, but we don't have to accept that “everyone has one” as the only option. Many Greater Lafayette parents want to delay smartphones, but it can be difficult to do when children feel like they are the only ones without one. By coming together as parents, we can make waiting a little easier. This pledge is about giving our kids more time for face-to-face friendships, outdoor play, family time, sleep, independence, and simply being kids before introducing the constant connection and distractions that come with a smartphone. Our kids are growing up in a world where smartphones have become a normal part of childhood—but we don't have to accept that “everyone has one” as the only option.
