Our Mission.

Our children are struggling. Schools once alive with deep learning born of human connection are now dominated by screens. The result is unmistakable: failing performance, fractured attention, and the slow erosion of academic rigor. We were told classroom technology was progress. It wasn’t. In "The Digital Delusion", neuroscientist and educator Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath reveals why digital tools in schools consistently undermine learning, and what parents, teachers, and schools can do to push back with purpose. Drawing on decades of neuroscience and education research, Horvath dismantles the core myths driving the EdTech movement and offers a practical playbook for putting people, not programs, back at the center of education. This book is not a call to reject technology, but to reclaim real learning. We call ourselves a "low-bar book club" which helps us prioritize inclusivity. Some of us may not be able to read the book on our schedule or attend all the meetings but are very interested in the book and topics it covers. READING - We have learned it is best to divide the book into a few chapters every two weeks to allow time for reading the usual 50-80 pages. If you're able to take notes and share them, it would be much appreciated. Our meeting facilitation will be shared by OR Unplugged's Kathy Masarie, Jody Scheer, and Megan Orton, VT Coalition's Laura Derrendinger, and DMV Unplugged's Keena McAvoy.
