Our Mission

The CCC is currently over 430 parents and community members coming together to protect childhood and support one another in raising kids who thrive offline. MISSION: 📵 Keep smartphones and social media out of childhood 🏫 Advocate for phone-free schools and intentional technology use 🌳 Foster a community culture that values independence, free play, and responsibility in the real world **** We believe smartphones and social media are not healthy for kids. In order to roll back the phone-based childhood and restore the play-based childhood, we must act together. Note: We believe it is never too late for a family to adjust its approach to smartphones & social media. We welcome & support any families committed to our mission, and are happy to provide guidance for families looking to reduce or eliminate smartphones and social media in their kids' lives. We welcome Croton businesses and organizations to get involved! One of our initiatives has been placing beautifully decorated book boxes, decorated by local children in waiting areas around town. These boxes give kids something to read while they wait, helping replace screen time with real-world imagination and learning. Our team handles all collecting and distributing of books. We know have 50 book boxes within our community. We hope local businesses will help us build an exceptionally supportive and kid-friendly community, whether that means being understanding of kids walking independently around the village, or helping a child in need with a quick phone call if necessary. Together, we can make Croton a community that nurtures a healthy childhood filled with play, independence, and real-world experience— one small change at a time. 💜 * No hate speech or disrespect will be tolerated in this group. We are kind to all.

Croton Landline Exchange Party

September 27, 2026
2:00 PM EDT - 5:00 PM EDT
Delay Smartphones Delay Social Media Independence And Play
Come out for a playdate and phone number exchange! The Croton Community Collective recently arranged a discounted promotion on Tin Cans - and lots of families now have a landline that is ready for calling! Let's get together to exchange phone numbers and encourage our kids to call each other via their home phones. We will be passing out phone books and gel pens for the kids to decorate and write down numbers. Snacks will be provided. Croton children with other types of landlines (or no landline yet at all) are welcome and encouraged to join! Note: There is a $10 parking fee to park at Croton Point Park. If this fee will prevent your family from attending, please reach out to the CCC (crotonccc@gmail.com) and we will happily cover this expense for you - no questions asked. We will meet at the picnic tables near the far playground - look for the orange and black balloons!
